Thoughts on Lifeslide’s Gameplay

Consisting of 28 seamlessly flowing levels, players will race against the clock while learning to fly. Lifeslide begins in the stars and as the plane progresses through each stage more life in the form of trees, mountains, and animals begin to appear in the world.
Each level has a theme, that can be taken literally or figuratively, which offers a variety of ways to progress and grow. Each theme is tied to the different stages of life, and this is one of many things that make Lifeslide a breathtaking game.
Planes and the Stages of Life

As the plane glides through the world, it can also collect gems that are scattered throughout each level. Time and Matter are two of the most valuable in-game resources. These gems give players the ability to set priorities unique to their playstyle.
Matter can be used to improve the plane’s stats in areas such as aerodynamics, integrity, and steering. While time gems allow the plane to progress further for longer periods, so long as you use the terrain and practice steering.
While Lifeslide would make an absolutely challenging and rewarding game for gamers who enjoy speedrunning; failure is rewarded. Each time a player crashes the plane, they are given a chance to upgrades stats and even unlock new planes using the parts they collect on their journey.
While everyone may have their go-to type of paper airplane, not every plane is built to withstand certain environments. A plane built for speed, won’t handle well on levels with tight corners and narrow spaces.
Is it possible, yes!
And that is the real beauty of this game. Each individual player decides if what choices they want to make, and even though someone’s choice in plane types may make traversal harder, it’s their choice. Everyone is able to find a fulfilling way, one of the stages of life and the game, to overcome obstacles.
One of my favorite levels was the one dedicated to loving, in this level the plane is propelled through a rocky cavern by the wind. There are flowers and butterflies everywhere and it’s truly a beautiful stage.
It was challenging!
The narrow spaces required expert steering to travel at high levels of speed. I struggled on this stage until I looked really closely at the environment and noticed how the butterflies navigated with ease.
So I switched planes to one that had wings that reminded me of those types of creatures, and sure enough, I was able to weave through the lowpoly cliffs with ease.
Layers of Replayability
There is a ton of replayability in Lifeslide. When a player crashes, the level respawns and though it may have the same theme it’s never the same path. Much like life, there’s always more than one solution and Lifeslide captures that exceptionally well.
I thoroughly enjoyed having the experience to play Lifeslide. The environment was stunning and each level was memorable in its own way. The music throughout the game was amazing and fit each level perfectly, and also flowed just as seamlessly from track to track.
Lifeslide manages to demonstrate the versatility we experience in life through a video game, and that is a huge feat. Lifeslide will be available on Steam on August 6th, so be sure the Wishlist it to get notified.
